Flexible Management Options

Fortinet Ethernet switches can be managed standalone or through FortiOS via the FortiLink protocol. Centralized management of FortiOS can be implemented on-premises or in the cloud through FortiGate or FortiManager. This simplifies deployment and provisioning of FortiSwitch with zero-touch auto-discovery, provisioning, and security policy assignment. FortiSwitch can be managed without a FortiGate via FortiSwitch Manager on-premises, and in the cloud via FortiLAN Cloud.

Security is the Key to a Dependable SD-Branch Solution
Security is the Key to a Dependable SD-Branch Solution »

There has been a long history of building networks and then adding on security at the end, as an afterthought. This was no different for branch offices, especially since traditionally, all traffic came back to a central location for security inspection. Dedicated network lines (typically multiprotocol label switching [MPLS]) connected branches back to corporate, and there was little perceived need to worry about security within the branch.
