Overview

A campus network refers to a network of interconnected local area networks (LANs) connected via switches and routers to create a single cohesive network. It can exist in a single building, often with multiple floors, and grow as large as a corporate or education campus with a group of such buildings.

Digital acceleration trends have expanded IT administrators’ requirements for campus networks. Campus network design has also evolved in response to emerging technologies and changing business outcomes. To securely support and onboard IoT and BYOD devices while providing seamless mobility and application experience for users, an agile, easy-to-manage, and secure platform is required.

Converging networking and security at the enterprise campus

The Fortinet Security Fabric enables a enterprise networking campus rooted in the convergence of networking and security. This creates an intelligent, resilient enterprise switching and wireless campus to support even the most demanding business technology challenges.

The FortiOS operating system is the heart of the Security Fabric and is at the center of the enterprise networking campus. This eliminates complex topologies and inefficient bolt-on security solutions. By converging enterprise security, enterprise switching, and enterprise wireless into a single platform, the deployment and management of hardware and services can be done quickly and easily.

Wired and Wireless Networking

Reliable, high-performance, and purpose-built, Fortinet Ethernet switches and wireless access points securely power the user experience required by the next-generation campus. With multiple form factors supporting the latest Wi-Fi and switching technologies, Fortinet offers the flexibility to meet the most demanding technology requirements without additional licensing or complexity.

Features and Benefits

AI and ML can offload repetitive tasks from IT teams, while alerting to trends and network health allowing you to proactively manage your campus network.

Network Segmentation and Microsegmentation

With a FortiOS-centered network, IT administrators can control the traffic flowing in and out of a segment to limit the scope of a breach. Segmentation can be automated so it’s easy to implement. Our solution is also application aware.

Secure IoT Onboarding

Fortinet offers two options to address IoT. With a FortiOS-centered campus network, base visibility and onboarding of IoT devices is included at no charge with FortiLink NAC. Fortinet builds on this base feature with FortiNAC to enable additional profiling and anomaly detection.
Our campus networking solution is centered on FortiOS. This eliminates point-product sprawl and enables the same visibility, control, and security inspection over enterprise switching and enterprise wireless as it does over FortiGate NGFW ports.
Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) enables IT administrators to assess the health of the application experience and provides suggestions to improve it, whether on campus or in the cloud.
