FortiGuard Incident Response Helps Large Planned Community Recover from Ransomware
Overview
Village Management Services (VMS) is responsible for managing Laguna Woods Village, a Californian retirement community. Working with its managed security services provider (MSSP), VMS had started to deploy Fortinet Security Fabric solutions in parts of its network, but progress was slow. However, a major ransomware breach caused a rethink.
The MSSP leveraged FortiGuard Incident Response Services to identify and isolate the bad actor’s location within 24 hours using FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) and the FortiEDR endpoint detection and response solution. Since then, the company has accelerated its Fortinet Security Fabric deployment, putting in place a cutting-edge security infrastructure including FortiGate NGFWs powered by FortiGuard AI-Powered Security Services, FortiSwitch Ethernet Switches, FortiAP access points, FortiWeb web application firewall, the FortiDeceptor decoy tool, and FortiNAC network access control amongst others.
